What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container, also seen as HEIF) is the photo format Apple devices have used by default since iOS 11. It stores pictures at roughly half the size of a JPG with the same visual quality, great for saving space on your iPhone. The catch: many Windows programs, websites, email tools and older phones can’t open HEIC files, so you often need a plain JPG before you can upload, share or print a photo.
