ToolFern (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates this website. This policy explains what information we do and don’t collect when you use our tools, and how we handle it. By using the site you agree to this policy.

The short version

The files you process with our tools (photos, PDFs and so on) are handled entirely inside your own web browser. They are never uploaded to our servers, never stored by us, and never seen by anyone. We collect only limited, standard analytics and advertising data described below.

Files you process

Our tools are built to run on your device. When you convert or edit a file, the work happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. We do not receive, see, copy or store your files. When you close or refresh the page, any data the tool was using is gone.

Information we collect

• Usage analytics. We use analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used — which pages are popular, general device and browser types, and approximate (city/country-level) location derived from your IP address. This helps us improve the tools.
• First-party usage events. When our own backend analytics are enabled, we record anonymous events about which tool you use, along with a random identifier stored in your browser (it is not linked to your name and resets periodically) and a timestamp. These are processed on our own infrastructure (Supabase) so we can see which tools are popular. No file contents and no personal information are ever included.
• Server & security logs. Like virtually all websites, our hosting and content-delivery network automatically record standard technical data such as IP address, browser type and timestamps, used for security, abuse prevention and performance.
• No accounts required. Our tools work without an account, so using them doesn’t require a name, email or password.

Cookies and similar technologies

We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies to run analytics and to display advertising. Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may work differently if you do.

Advertising

We may display ads through Google AdSense and other ad partners to keep the tools free.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• You can also opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.

Third-party services we rely on

• Google Analytics & Google AdSense — analytics and advertising, if and when we enable them (Google Privacy Policy).
• Supabase — our own backend, used for anonymous first-party usage analytics when enabled.
• Cloudflare — content delivery, caching and security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or California’s CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data, and to opt out of personalised advertising. Because we don’t store your files and don’t require accounts, most requests relate to the analytics and advertising cookies described above, which you can control through your browser and the ad-settings links provided. Children’s privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “last updated” date above when we do, and significant changes will be reflected on this page.
